Smoke Ring Miniatures

  Well, this have surely been a marathon. With many ups and downs, breakings and re-engagings, I managed to go through all of the miniatures and scenarios from the Escape from Goblin Town starter set!   Mae govannen, mellon nín! Welcome to another tutorial my friends.  And what should follow after our Bilbo Baggins ? Well, Gandalf of course, the last member of Thorin's Company!  Like the rest of the Company, this plastic miniature is part of the Escape from Goblintown box set. Although I've painted already multiple Gandalf's (or should I write Gandalfar ??), I always enjoy doing so - it is my favourite Tolkien character.  This miniature ended up with a deficit of smoothness colour-wise, and I can't help to blame the varnishing process in the end. But well, it is finished, and I'm relatively happy with it. Eight months after my last post, here I am again, and I can assure everyone that the blog ain't dead yet!!!!! I'll start this one by explaining my absence, which is pretty simple: last semester of my graduation! And I'm finally a History graduate! ... And now I can spend a lot more time with the hobby! After a well earned vacation time, I've once again immersed myself on this hobby, without knowing for sure how much my painting skills have decreased. So, by last week, I have decided to open a  Middle Earth Minis 's Instagram account , which I kindly ask you to follow. Just a small update... Finally I got my Escape from Goblin Town!!! I'm so freaking happy :D I'm going to paint it after I finish my 65 deagostini numbers ;)

Well, here we are with number 12, Gandalf! I wasn't really happy with his face but I think that in the overall the mini is not that badly painted :) For this mini I used six Army Painter paints and three brushes: Brushes - Insane Detail, Small Drybrush and Highlighting; Matt Black; Matt White; Leather Brown; Barbarian Flesh; Plate Mail Metal; And Quickshade Strong Tone ink. For the brushes, I'm delighted to have these to use. They're perfect! The drybrush is really helpful and the Insane Detail, with this triangular handle is PERFECT! I'm really amazed by this. It fulfills the hand and the triangular form makes it easier to stroke the little details of the miniature. My final rate on the brushes got to be 10/10. It really is the most wanted Brush set!!!!! For the paints, I'm a fan of the dropping method so, this is one favor point, but the big thing (for me) about this paints is that they're hugely pigmented. ...
