60th post - Gandalf the White!

“Pippin - I didn't think it would end this way.

Gandalf - End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

Pippin - What? Gandalf? See what?

Gandalf - White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise."

Well, first of all I must say that Gandalf the Grey is my favourite Tolkien character.
After his fall in Moria, he comes back in all his glory as Gandalf the White with a single purpose: to finish what he has started - to help destroy the One Ring.

Make no mistakes. This "new" Gandalf isn't even remotely the same person that he was. Tolkien described Gandalf the White as being younger both in physic and in spirit.

So let's move to Gandalf the White's figure.
White really is a tricky colour to paint. I'd risk to say that it is the worst color to paint. But, overall, I'm quite happy with the result that I managed to get :)

I'll post here the paints that I've used and then the photos of the miniature :)

And as a final act, I'll leave here Gandalf the White and the One Ring :D

  1. Fantástico, altamente expressivo! E as sombras no vestuário estão excelentes - trabalhar assim a cor branca não é mesmo nada fácil - não é só "dar-lhe gesso"!! lol Parabéns por mais uma figura primorosa!

The face is actually my favourite part, since the white robes are really hard to paint xD

  6. Hi !

Your Gandalf is really nice, I love the way you painted his face. :)

However, I find that the mini is too in a "all white way". I mean, maybe you should have make a difference between the whites. For exemple, a white for the cloak, one for the tunic, one again for the bearb, etc...

It's only an advice, because he his great like this anyway ;)

Anyway, I think I'm going to paint again my Gandalf's face, after seeing this one, I don't like mine anymore...

    Bye !
